Please don't godmod. Please don't meta game.
If you want to use your character’s powers and it has a direct effect on a character, please always be sure to ask first. Please, please, please. Relatedly, if you feel your character has been unfairly used or was involved in a situation without your permission, it is important that you communicate that to the parties involved or to the mods so that it can be nipped it in the bud.
If you are having problems with another player, we encourage you to reach out to them. Nine times out of ten it's either miscommunication or it is an easy fix. People are reasonable when you give them the chance.
Ultimately, we expect every last one of you to communicate with respect, no matter who it is you're talking to. This is a hard rule. If we feel that there has been a line crossed and that someone is being mistreated, including us mods, as we’re people, too, the problem player will be removed from the game.
Although this game in set in 2022, we would like to request that any political topics are kept out of the game. The world is a shitshow and we'd prefer to keep the game's focus onto the worldbuilding and plot we offer will be enough so that no one will have to lean on politics. We just don't want it in our game. It's exhausting. We hope that this is intuitive but if you have any questions, please let us know. Thank you for understanding!
IC/OOC Seperation is an absolute must. Just because a character might say something rude, vulgar, sexist, or whatever else does not mean that the player is that way. As people, we often don't like to admit fault, but for the sake of everyone, ask yourself frankly and honestly: Is this character being OOC or am I taking this personally?
When one character is being 'out of character,' it makes it impossible for others to stay 'in character.' Your character is not a mind-reader. Your character should not automatically know the motivations behind what everyone does. Be honest with yourself. Be honest with others.
That being said, if you do need us to intervene or mediate, please don't hesitate to shoot us an e-mail or cc us on a thread. This includes if you happen to have an issue with the mods. If you have one mod you feel more comfortable reaching out to than the other, that’s absolutely okay. We want you to be comfortable, but we can't help if we aren't aware that something is wrong.
please utilize our tags system. If there are any tags you want to be added for organizational purposes, let us know! We're happy to add it in for you.
All logs should be marked with appropriate Content Warnings. We are not interested in pursuing any active storylines involving sexual abuse. This includes backstories. We understand that this topic is written into some folklore, but we don't see a reason why this should be explored in game. if you feel you cannot play a character without reflecting on the sexual trauma in their tale, then don't play them. Thank you for understanding.
We'll also remain cognizant of player preferences and discomforts they've listed in their player channels. If the majority of players are uncomfortable with a certain concept, we'll consider that concept as not fitting into the vibe of the game. (Some of the current examples include but are not limited to: major mental health struggles, in-game pregnancy lines and backstories with traumatic pregnancy complications, abuse plotlines, self-harm, and other traumatic backstories.) We're a game with horror elements, but we're not a dark game that wants to explore real-world tragedies and hot-button issues.
All logs should also have an accurate and appropriate summary. Player comfort should not be put below spoilers and surprise. If it involves something major, we also advise you to draft up a ‘tl;dr,’ in the comments for people who might want to keep up, but don’t want to read the specifics.
authorsnote
this is the ooc community. apart from discord, all ooc communications should go in here. in the ooc community, you can expect memes, codes to use, mod updates, and generalized whatevering. it's an ooc community! use it! have fun!
discord
yes, we have discord! joining used to be optional at game start, but all members have opted in to use it and it's now become a vital part of how we share information, post reminders, and plot with each other. we don't feel like it's fair to pretend that it's still an optional feature and we don't anticipate cross-posting announcements to the OOC comm so going forward, joining the discord is now required but your participation in the social aspect of it is optional. the Read Only section of it is viewable by all members and features game announcements and polls; only the mods can post in here so it's free of OOC chatter. you can opt into OOC chatter, RP chatter, and other roles using the #role-assignments channel.

bonus days |
we require two pieces of activity a month per character. a "month", in this case, counts for the first 28 days of the month, every month. The bonus days at the end of the month are there to give us, as mods, time to finish up the plot calendar, do removals, and otherwise do hard lifting mod stuff that usually comes at the end of the month without having to wait and wonder who's going to make activity.
upon acceptance of a new character, you have one week to make your first piece of activity and submit it to the activity check post. failure to do so will result in your character being removed, and their tale will open up again. this update will count towards your activity for the month! by putting a time limit on your first activity, we hope that this will discourage anyone from sitting on available spots until the end of activity check.
please see the below informational blurb to see what counts as activity. we recognize that real life can be demanding and have taken that into consideration when it comes to what we are going to ask of you for activity. Our requirements are designed in a way that we hope will reward people who look to push the overall plot of the game as well as promote inclusivity.

one journal entry
this journal entry must have a public portion and most of the initial comments must be replied to.
one log or narrative
of any length, between anyone.
you may combine comments from various threads.
running an ic/ooc
If more than one person runs an ic/ooc, that's fine. both of you can claim credit.
010 comments on an ic/ooc
You may combine comment threads from multiple ic/oocs or flash reactoinaries to help you reach ten.
one piece of media
Some kind of transcript for a broadcast, a newspaper article, gossip blogs, etc.
002 FLASH REACTIONARIES
these must be posted on separate days. if they're flash reactionaries that include extra involvement from you (for example, you're running an RNG game or something else that you have to monitor and reply to like tarot readings) then you can count it as an ic/ooc for activity.
RUNNING A MONTHLY CHALLENGE
Running a monthly challenge will enable you to use it as two pieces of activity for one of your characters. these are events like writers' bingo that usually have a little in-game prize or custom graphic for players who complete them.
005 narrative-style thread replies
these are your narrative/prose style comments on any ic/ooc, flash reactionary, thread, reply to a gift post, etc. basically, if you do more than, 'becky was here and would have been friendly. she brought snacks.' (these types of replies fall under the ic/ooc comment category.)
you may combine replies from multiple posts.
RUNNING A MAJOR EVENT
Running a major event will enable you to use it as two pieces of activity for one of your characters. these are events like big ic/oocs and days-long plots that require a lot of heavy lifting on the host's part in terms of setup and moderation, usually involve coding know-how or help from someone with coding know-how, and don't require a lot of involvement or hand-holding from us as mods. basically, you get full activity for taking a big load off of us and coming up with something fun for players to do that week! thank you!
shoot us a message via dropbox or email if you have any cool ideas or questions about what qualifies as a major event.
